The story of the Hampi Crocodile

The story of the Hampi Crocodile.

For a long time it has been said that there are crocodiles in the river in Hampi, but no one could ever pin point the location of them, even if claiming to have seen one.
One day I was walking back to the village, towards the Hanuman temple. At a distance I saw 2 police officers running towards me and shouting “Come quick, emergency” ! – So, I started running towards them thinking I did something wrong.
As I came closer they spoke softer and pointed behind me towards the river and said, “crocodile”.
Can I come, I asked.
Yes Yes come quick…so, they wanted me with my camera to document the crocodile.
So I ran with the Police officers to the river. Reaching the river we all slowed down and began our approach as slowly as possible.
I was yet to see the crocodile, cause I was behind them and no one told me where to look.

Finally I spotted the creature, laying on a rock in the river taking in the sun.
One of the officers told me to come but I wanted to take a couple of shots, now that I had the crocodile in my scope.
I managed to take 2 shots before it spotted us and slipped back down into the river.

The first officer had maybe 20 seconds more, so he actually got a pretty good shot with his phone.

After the encounter, I had all the people around the river and the temple approaching me to see the crocodile.
Many said it was their first time seeing a crocodile (now on my camera display) and even the younger officer said it was his first spotting, as it was mine.

So, when people ask me now if there are any crocodiles in the river, I can with certainty tell them yes, and even pin point the location.

Here is my shot

Good Afternoon from Mumbai

Good afternoon.

So now I’m in Mumbai again after a train trip that was about 5 hours late and didn’t even stop at the main Mumbai station, but way out in the suburbs. So I had to take a ricksha to another local station and from there grab a local train to CMT – Chhatrapati Mumbai Station.

The local train came in real fast and did hardly make a full stop. So, when I was about to get on with my bags, I had my suitcase halfway into the train and I was still outside the train. A guy took the suitcase and dragged that in. I jumped with my backpack and grabbed the middle railing in the door opening (no door) and while the train took off I had to drag myself onto the train. People came running to help me, but at that time I had already dragged myself in. 🙄

Now, as a result I have a wonky swollen finger which was my only support while dragging myself onto the train. Left middle finger so I’m constantly giving people the finger since it doesn’t bend that well. 😁👍

Anyway, as a result of the delay I got to the hotel at 11:30 am instead of 6:30 am. (Bit of a delay)

Checked in, took a shower, changed clothes and went to see if the optician can help me with my wonky glasses.  He couldn’t.. they are broken. 🧐

So I went for lunch. There as I was eating… when I got approached by a film crew, they asked if I would mind being filmed?
I agreed…no problem. So I got filmed eating puri/thali and also interviewed by a local tv channel. They asked me about thali and why I came to that particular puri place. 🙂

Anyway, now I’m at a coffee shop having a macchiato and a chocolate cake. Because why not.

Not much of adventure left for the day, so I hope this finds you all well. !

See you out there.

Me in Goa…

Good Morning from Goa

Good Morning,

I made a short Facebook Live-video in Swedish about a road trip I was on for 1000 km (621 miles), which turned out to be more like 1340 km (832 miles).
After the video i was informed that the Taxi we had wasn’t allowed to go the full journey. So we had to go back 3 hours to Ujjain and switch cars and get another driver (the drivers brother).
The trip was in my head going to be full of short stops for photography, but we had now already lost 6 hours. Then we have the matter of Bad roads, Road Toll and roadwork that put us well behind. And an average speed of 70km/hours (42 miles/hour) on the highways and maybe 35km/h – (20 miles/h) on the smaller roads.
This is all part of the journey, but I soon realized…there is Not going to be any stops for me.
So in the end the trip took us about 28 hours and I reached Goa, my destination at 9pm. Just enough time to check in and grab a Lassi and an omelette before they closed.

So, lets talk about this dreaded “Delhi-Belly” aka Tourist Diarrhea.
Before I arrived in Orcha I was fine and never really worried about that. I ate street food and western food as well as daily Indian local food.
But it seems that some, or many of the restaurants in Orcha has difficulties with the concept of cleanliness, since more than a few tourists had issues.
When I finally got to the next destination Ujjain, I hadn’t eaten in 36 hours and saw no improvement, so I went to see the good doctor. He “treated” me for 2 days, with not only No improvement but got me feeling even worse.
Last day he said I’m dehydrated, so drip-drop for over an hour and over 1Liter of fluids. I told him I drink and can drink fluids, its the solid food…. He said something about acid…dehydration and stoping the going to the toilet.
After having this all, my body just reacted and retracted the fluids. Got out of me soo fast… 🙂
I had to take matters into my own hands. Went and got the medicin I need and after the 2 pill, i felt the change and could start slowly eating again.
I’m always walking… and not eating has made me loose so much on my lower body and the bulk from upper as well.

Yesterday was my first day in 5 days that I could eat proper food.

I now have 1 more night here in Palolem Beach before I need to get to Mumbai.

See you when I see you. 🙂 but now I need some food, work out first.

Good Evening…

Good Evening from the road…

Now in a. Car starting a journey a 1000 km south.
Need some more adventure… will tell you more.

Hopefully I got the right antibiotics this time.

The last night session at the doctor’s… Adverse reaction to all the fluids he pumped into me. Did not need that much.
As I was having the fluids, I could feel and see the fluids just not going in.
I told the doctor that I do drink and even thou I’m a little de-hydrated it’s not from Not getting any fluids, it’s from Not keeping the solids in. 🙂

“How do one talk to a GP without sounding condescending?

– Just asking for a friend …”

– Update: Got the new Antibiotic and after the second pill I could feel the change… so I could start eating again. Slowly… chanti, chanti
And the day after it felt even better. The only thing that happened after was that I got blisters and cold sores in- and around my mouth. Not really visible ones, but sore and not easy to eat or drink anything with spices or heat.
– All good now.

Welcome to Ujjain

Good afternoon.
Welcome to Ujjain.
I was supposed to come by bus this morning, but the bus got cancelled so I had to find a train at the last minute.
Arrived at 13 (1pm) checked in and took a walk. By 4pm I was at the doctors having intravenous antibiotics and antivirals pumped into me. I got antibiotics for 5 days with me and will go back tomorrow for a checkup.
– it’s only stomach issue. Can’t keep any solid food down.

I’ll get back to you on that.
